I’m so glad 2016 is over. It was a difficult year for me personally and professionally, with my father’s illness and death from lung cancer in April. While I released Redemption in early 2016, I had to delay launch of If You Fall until July and that threw off my plans for Forever After, which I planned to release in September but is now not going to be released until January 30th, 2017. My sincere apologies to everyone who has been waiting for its release. Losing a parent must be on of the top three hardest experiences to go through, besides losing a child or spouse. It really threw things into chaos for a while.
I think it took us all a good six months to start to feel that life was reaching some kind of new normal. My mother had a really hard time at first, learning how to live on her own, responsible for everything where once my father did a lot of the work and took care of things like finances and the car, etc. She’s doing much better now but will be moving in to live with me and my boys when we make the move to the West Coast in the Spring, once I finish getting my house ready for sale.
Coming up as far as book releases in 2017:
- Forever After, the final instalment of the Unrestrained Series, will be released on January 30th, 2017. I will be sending ARCs out as soon as I have the edited copy ready for preorder, which should be around the 20th of January if you are interested. Stay tuned for a teaser in the next week or two.
- The Vampire’s Pet: Book 1, with an all new cover, and the addition of Kier’s point of view, which has been fun to write. Plus an extended edition! There will be all-new content as well as the original novella. I hope to get it published by the end of February and will post notices on my website and Facebook pages.
- My new standalone novel — Mr. Big Shot — a contemporary romance, will be released in April. I’ll be doing a sign up for the cover reveal and help with the release day and week promotion, so if you want to help out, I’ll be posting a signup sheet in March.
- I’ll be writing a slightly darker romance series titled Jake of Hearts, with a rogue warrior hero who is a man on a mission. Jake has no plans to meet a woman let alone fall in love but things don’t work out the way he planned when Celia shows up in his life. I hope to release the first instalment in early May.
- Finally, I’ll be releasing Eternity: Book One in late June. Eternity will tell the story of the Dominion Series, but from the twin’s points of view, so if you loved Michel and Julien — and Soren — stay tuned! I’m really excited to write this book, as I have been dying to write the twins’ — and Soren’s — points of view. Getting into their minds will be a real pleasure that I hope readers of the Dominion Series will enjoy.
That’s on my agenda so far for 2017 — books I hope you will enjoy reading as much as I enjoy writing.
Thanks for visiting and for reading my books. Happy 2017!

This is a really helpful post on how to side load an eBook to your Kindle, snipped from Kirsta Lakes Author: Go check out her site and buy her books!
“Did your favorite author send you a free book? Are you staring at the .mobi file in your email wondering how to get it onto your Kindle device? Have no fear! Here is the easy quick guide for getting your book onto your Kindle!”
1. Log on to Amazon.com and go to Your Account> Manage Your Content and Devices
2. Go to the Settings Tab
3. Scroll to almost the bottom and you will see these to important areas. First, you will see your Kindle Device’s approved email address. Below that is where you can add an approved email address. If your email address isn’t on the list, add it now. (Don’t add mine! I’m not sending the book to your Kindle- you are!)
4. Email the file (it should be a .mobi or a pdf) to your unique amazon address.
5. Give your Kindle enough time to receive the email! Be sure your Kindle can access the internet. You can also go to Books> menu (the three bars in the upper left corner)>settings> Sync all content to update a little quicker.
6. Enjoy reading your new book!
If you need more help, http://www.iuniverse.com/FAQs/Sideload-Your-Mobi-eBook-File-Onto-Kindle-Fire.aspx has a couple other ways to sideload (like using the USB or the Kindle Fire itself)
Here’s a small teaser from Unbreakable, Book 4 in the Unrestrained series, told from Drake’s and Kate’s point of views. If you haven’t already pre-ordered a copy, you can do so at Apple iBooks, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo Books. Coming soon to Amazon.com as well so stay tuned!
I met the love of my life on a night when meeting a new woman and starting a relationship was the last thing on my mind.
If you had asked me that night if I was going to get married again, I would have scoffed and said something like, “Tried it. Not for me.” Or something along those lines. I truly felt that I wasn’t the marrying type, too wrapped up in my career to need a life partner or companion to live with me and share my life.
Lara, my best female friend and partner in crime in the BDSM world, had pestered me for several years to find someone to spend my life with, but I’d resisted.
Back then I’d rationalized it, saying that marriage and domesticity weren’t my thing.
Then I met Kate.
The night I met Kate, my focus wasn’t on meeting my future wife and the love of my life.
My focus was on shaking Ethan McDermott’s hand, handing him a generous check as my donation to his fundraising event, and getting through the evening so I could go home, hit the sack and get much-needed sleep. I’d been working hard for about two weeks with classes and evening call, and was mentally and physically exhausted. On top of a specialized surgical slate as a neurosurgeon, I had my cover band Mersey, I had my father’s robotic implements business to oversee, and I had the charitable foundation I started in his memory to head. Although I was almost a figurehead for the corporation and foundation, I still had responsibilities.
On the romance front, I’d just split with a long-time submissive and the breakup wasn’t as amicable as I would have liked. I wanted a new submissive for I had needs, but I wasn’t obsessed with it. At that point in my life, I was hyper-focused on my career and establishing myself as a neurosurgeon specializing in robotics.
Managing my very busy life meant I had little time for romance, so I gave it up in favor of straight no-emotional ties sessions of bondage and dominance three times a week with a submissive who knew to expect nothing in return but orgasms with a bit of kink.
Now, here I was, ten months later, eager to marry and start a new home and family with the woman who became part of my life completely unexpectedly. Kate Marie McDermott had become the biggest part of my life, filling a huge hole I didn’t realize existed and which I had swept under some emotional carpet so I wouldn’t have to stop my busy life and consider what was wrong.
I sat in my office at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi and smiled as I closed the patient file I’d been reading unsuccessfully. I knew when I’d read the same paragraph over three times that I was done for the day. It was close to 7:30 PM and I’d been at the hospital for more than twelve hours.
That was enough for one day.
I almost made it out the hospital exit to the parking lot when who should round the corner ahead of me but Sam.
A neurosurgery resident with whom I had a brief affair two years earlier, Sam had hoped to rekindle our previous relationship but she failed to win me back. She didn’t seem to want to take no for an answer even when my fiancée accompanied me to Africa during my stay.
I frowned when I saw her but then caught myself. There was nothing she could do now to hurt my relationship with Kate, so I tried to approach her with patience and humor when straight avoidance didn’t work.
“Hello, Sam,” I said as I passed her.
Of course, she reached out and grabbed my arm. “Just the man I wanted to see.”
I pulled my arm out of her grip and held up my hands as I rushed past. “Sorry can’t stop and chat gotta run,” I said. “Dinner’s waiting.”
“Wait,” she said, stopping in the hallway and turning to me as I reached the exit. I stood there, my hand on the door, ready to push it open, and considered whether to keep going or to turn to face her.
The urgency in her voice made me stop. I turned and looked at her, trying to hold in my impatience. “What is it?”
“I have a paediatric head trauma patient in the ER…” she said. “I know you want to specialize in pediatric neurosurgery so…”
“Isn’t Michael still here?” I said, frustrated that I couldn’t prevent Sam from being part of my day. I didn’t want to give Kate any reason to be jealous or uncertain about our bond. To me, it was unbreakable, but to Kate, it might not seem that way.
“He had to scrub in on another case,” Sam replied.
I sighed and let go of the door. “What have you got?”
She came to where I stood and smiled, running her hand down her hair. “A seven year old boy. Fell off a climbing structure at school. I could use your expertise.”
I’d been working with Michael Owiti, Chief of Neurosurgery at the Aga Khan hospital in Nairobi, and had assisted him on several pediatric cases. I hoped to specialize in pediatric neurosurgery and so was always interested in getting more experience in the field. But I also had a beautiful and seductive fiancé at home waiting for me.
Kate would be disappointed if I was late yet again.
“There’s no one else?”
She shook her head. “You’re Michael’s backup until you leave.”
I nodded. “Okay. Let me send a text and I’ll meet you down in the ER.”
She went back the way she came while I stood in the hallway and sent Kate a text.
Sorry to do this yet again but I have to consult on a paediatric head trauma case in the ER. Will be home as fast as I can so I can see you for at least a few hours before bed.
I waited for several seconds but there was no answer so I slipped my cell in my pocket and went back to my office. I slipped on my lab coat and made my way to the ER. A pediatric head trauma was right up my alley. Still, as much as I enjoyed working on such cases, and as much as I needed every minute of experience dealing with paediatric brain injury patients, I enjoyed my soon-to-be wife even more.
There was nothing to do about it but get there and see what was waiting for me.
Unbreakable, Book 4 in the Unrestrained Series, is scheduled for release on August 17th 2015!

Yes, you heard that right — you can preorder Redemption, Book 5 in the Dominion Series and have it delivered to your Nook, iPad or Kobo the minute it goes live on September 30th! Reserve your copy now of the conclusion to the Dominion Series and find out how Eve chooses. Amazon preorder up later.
Who do you think she’ll choose? The mercurial and intense ex-priest Michel or devil-may-care but honourable ex-knight Julien? Who would you choose?
It’s been a while since I published a blog — my life is so busy right now, I feel like I barely have time to think! Why am I so busy? First, I have two books coming out very soon and so am very busy writing. The first book is Drake Unbound, the full-length novel and conclusion of the Drake Series. I decided to release it as a full-length novel instead of three novellas. This will conclude the Drake Series, which is the Unrestrained Series but told through Drake’s eyes. I’m doing final edits before I send it to my editor. Once I get her edits back, I will put it up for pre-order on Amazon. It should be live on June 15th! I hope to have pre-order available for Amazon but it may not work out in time. Stay tuned! I’m also working on Unbreakable, Book 4 in the Unrestrained Series. I expect to release it on
July 27th August 31st, due to a recent illness that threw my schedule off by several weeks.
It’s available for pre-order now on Barnes and Noble, iBooks and Kobo books. It will cover the first year or so of Drake and Kate’s marriage, including the wedding, honeymoon and first months together. There will be challenges to their relationship, tests of their character, and some heartbreak that will see if their bond is unbreakable. I’m excited to write this book and have about 12,000 words already done. Tentative Release Date: August 17th. Besides these two books, I have new covers to organize with my cover designer for the Drake series, which I will be revealing later in June. I will probably also release a boxed set of the three Drake novels – Drake Restrained, Drake Unwound, and Drake Unbound. I’m also trying to get print books ready for The Commitment and Unrestrained as well as the Dominion Series, and the Drake Series. Once I have proofs, I will be giving away signed copies for those of you who like to collect them. Check this blog and my Facebook author page for the details! Finally, I have finally found a way to do Audiobooks with ACX! Since I’m Canadian, there is no easy way to work with ACX without an US bank and US mailing address. I am going to work with a middle man who will help with this so look for audiobooks for the Unrestrained Series coming sometime later this year. Later this summer, I will be finishing up the Dominion Series, and will be writing Redemption, Book 5 in the Dominion Series. I will be sad to say goodbye to Julien, Michel and Eve, Soren and the rest of the cast, but they need their resolution. I’ve toyed with a prequel to the Dominion Series, and wrote Kingdom of the Damned short story that covers the making of Michel and Julien as vampires and considered doing an entire novel following their time with Soren after they were turned. I may still get to that one day, depending on how my schedule works and if there is demand. The next series on my agenda is the Brimstone Series of Contemporary Romantic Suspense novels. I have three planned, and have about 15,000 of the first book written. I’m excited to write this book, too, and will be introducing several new characters and a new couple. I anticipate writing If You Dare, Book 1 of the Brimstone Series, in the Fall 2015. I have just finished reading Girl on the Train and Gone Girl and absolutely want to write a suspense novel along those lines sometime soon. I have a suspense plot, several characters and hope to write it and release in the New Year. It’s provisionally titled Paradise Hill, but that is still under consideration. Suspense, Crime, and Thrillers have been a long-time love of mine and so being able to write one would be a great treat! Of course, there will be a love story — I can’t write anything without one, but the suspense story will be the focus. Will write more about my concept later when I’m finished work on existing projects. Plus, I have several science fiction and fantasy short stories, plots and novels under another pen name that I want to work on. Too many ideas and not enough time! This is in addition to work on my 100-year old house to get it in shape to be sold later this summer. The basement needs bracing and patching, the house needs painting, the kitchen needs a facelift and the yard needs prettifying. I have my work cut out for me. All this is because I plan to move to Vancouver, British Columbia in the Fall of 2015, once my house sells. I have always wanted to live by the ocean and Vancouver is called ‘Lotus Land’ for a reason — the weather is absolutely the best in Canada. I will try to spend winters in Florida and summers in Vancouver. I want to be able to smell salt air and walk the beach. It’s been a dream of mine for just about forever so I hope to be living that dream soon! My two sons will be moving with me and going to school on the coast. They are as fed up with Prairie winters as I am. 🙂 Some of you may know that my father is one year post-op for Stage 1 lung cancer. He just got an all clear from his latest CT and as long as it stays clear, we are planning a trip to Florida for our winter getaway in February and March. Coco Beach / Cape Canaveral is our first stop to watch a the Falcon 9 – SpaceX lift off, then Key West and finally Fort Myers Beach. We hope to spend 60 days in Florida in February and March 2016. I am blessed that I can write anywhere, and be able to keep my business going even while sitting beside the ocean or pool. The Falcon 9 Space X lift off will be on February 13th from Cape Canaveral, Florida. That’s it for me! You can watch this blog or my Facebook feed to keep up to date on my writing plans for 2015/2015. I will be posting teasers from Drake Unbound and Unbreakable in the coming weeks so stay tuned! S. E.
